MARIAN HERRERO - VIOLA

Spanish violist Marian Herrero has established herself as a distinguished performer in both chamber music and orchestral settings. She has appeared throughout Europe, the United States, Morocco, the Middle East, and Mexico, performing at renowned venues such as the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), the Royal Albert Hall (London), the Musikverein (Vienna), La Scala (Milan), the National Auditorium of Madrid, the Auditorium of Zaragoza, and the Ciudad de León Auditorium, among others. She has played in Festivals like the Newport Classical Music Festival in Newport, Rhode Island, Orvieto Musica Festival in Italy, Clásicos en Verano in Madrid, Chamber Music Amarillo Series in Amarillo, Texas, among many others.

She collaborates with leading orchestras including the RTVE Symphony Orchestra, the Spanish Chamber Orchestra, Camerata Da Vinci, or the New Mexico Philharmonic, among others. She has performed under the baton of internationally acclaimed conductors such as Diego Matheuz, Andrea Marcon, Jaime Martín, Pinchas Steinberg, Walter Weller, David Afkham, Jonathan Nott, and Franz Welser-Möst. She currently performs with the Abilene Philharmonic Orchestra, the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, and the Mount Vernon Virtuosi in the Baltimore area, occasionally serving as guest principal.

A dedicated early music performer, Marian Herrero regularly collaborates with period-instrument ensembles such as Tiento Nuovo and Hippocampus. She is a member of the project Jorge Pardo & Hippocampus: Por Bach, alongside the internationally renowned flamenco flutist Jorge Pardo. She recorded Avison–Scarlatti's Concerti Grossi with Tiento Nuovo, a CD that received the prestigious Diapason d'Or award in 2021. She also participated in the recording of La Nitteti with the baroque ensemble Nereydas, performing alongside sopranos Nuria Rial and María Espada. The project earned the 2024 GEMA Award for Best Early Music Ensemble in Spain.

As a member of the Habemus Quartet, Marian Herrero has recorded several albums for the Non-Profit Music label, including In Crescendo and Whispering Colors, featuring world-premiere recordings by emerging composers.

An active educator, Marian Herrero has taught at professional conservatories in Madrid and is a certified Suzuki teacher through the Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA). She is also a regular faculty member and performer every summer at the Orvieto Musica Festival in Orvieto, Italy. She currently resides in the United States, where she has her own private teaching studio. She recently earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Texas Tech University, where she served as coach of the TTU Sinfonietta string ensemble. Since May 2026, she is a member of the Permian Basin String Quartet and principal violist of the West Texas Symphony Orchestra and serves on the faculty of The University of Texas Permian Basin in Texas, USA, and the Texas Tech University School of Music.
