ANDRES BRAVO - CONCERTMASTER

Originally from La Paz, Bolivia, Andres Bravo has established his performance and teaching career in Dallas, Texas. As a performer, he has appeared as a soloist with orchestras in Bolivia and the United States and has performed alongside members of the Escher, Viano, and Julius Quartets, as well as Nicola Benedetti, Aaron Boyd, Philip Quint, Jaime Laredo, and Paul Neubauer.

Andres currently performs as Assistant Concertmaster with the East Texas Symphony Orchestra and holds positions with the Plano Symphony Orchestra, Abilene Philharmonic Orchestra, Tulsa Symphony, Richardson Symphony Orchestra, and Dallas Opera. He is also a member of the string quartet for the Mount Vernon Chamber Music Series in Texas and has been a guest artist at the Eriksson Center for the Arts for several years.

Andres has held leadership positions as Concertmaster and Principal Second Violin at Interlochen, Eastern Music Festival, Texas Music Festival, Round Top Festival Institute, and Bolivia Clásica, as well as with the SHSU Symphony Orchestra and Meadows Symphony Orchestra. 

Born in La Paz, Bolivia, Andres began studying violin at the age of nine with his mother, Elizabeth Canedo de Bravo. His musical development was deeply influenced by his father, José Antonio Bravo, who served as Principal Flutist of the National Symphony Orchestra of Bolivia. At age eleven, Andres entered the National Conservatory of Music in Bolivia, where he studied with Maestro Ramiro Jiménez. At fourteen, he joined the National Symphony Orchestra of Bolivia, where he performed until 2012.

Andres received his Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from Sam Houston State University, where he studied with Javier Pinell and Nahomi Gjevre. He subsequently earned a Performance Diploma and a Master of Music in Violin Performance from Southern Methodist University, where he studied with Emanuel Borok, Aaron Boyd, and Alexander Sitkovetsky. He later completed an Artist Diploma in Violin Performance at Texas Christian University, where he studied with Elisabeth Adkins.

As a teacher, Andres maintains a private violin and viola studio and has conducted Region and All-State clinics at schools throughout Houston and Dallas, including Ranchview High School, D. F. Long Middle School, Hebron High School, Barbara Bush Middle School, Doerre Middle School, and Rockwall School of Music.
